In Search of God's Promises

What is the one thing we do when we feel out of control in a situation? We grasp onto something stable, something we can lean on, something that will hold us up. When the ground is shifting we want something solid to stand on. This is a journey through the Bible in search of God's promises for us today. Let's look together to see how many "boulders" He has in His quarry for us to stand on! "It is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Rom. 9:8

Promise 96 Gen. 42:28

Gen. 42:28 - "Then he said to his brothers, 'My money has been returned, and behold, it is even in my sack.' and their hearts sank, and they turned trembling to one another, saying, 'What is this that God has done to us?'" How often do we think God is punishing us for something? More often than we would like to admit I'm sure. Sadly, many many people actually believe that every time something tragic happens, its God's wrath pouring down. It is simply not so, we get to see the full picture of what is going on in Joseph's brother's lives because through God's word He is allowing us to see what He sees. We get to see that it was Joseph who put the money back into their bags and that this story has a good ending because it is God who is orchestrating the events that happen. I believe that if we open our eyes and ears more, then we can see more of the bigger picture of what is going on around us than what we think. We already know the outcome of our lives, we already know that God loves us, we know that He desires to give us a future of hope and not of calamity. So attribute the things of God within that framework and look for other things He is doing that is according to His character and not out of it.
