In Search of God's Promises

What is the one thing we do when we feel out of control in a situation? We grasp onto something stable, something we can lean on, something that will hold us up. When the ground is shifting we want something solid to stand on. This is a journey through the Bible in search of God's promises for us today. Let's look together to see how many "boulders" He has in His quarry for us to stand on! "It is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Rom. 9:8

Promise 5 from Numbers 7:89

Numbers 7:89 - "Now when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim, so He spoke to him." - I love the details that are given as to where God's voice is coming from. Here Moses went into the tent of meeting to talk to God, but when He got in there God beat him to the punch and began speaking to him from a very exact location. I wonder how often God would be ready to speak to us but we don't shut up long enough for Him to get a word in. I fear that I've missed many many opportunities to hear His voice simply because I came to Him with my own agenda. The tent of meeting is a place that was secluded from all the outside concerns. There was Moses, alone with God, face to face, vulnerable before Him in intimate relation with each other. Then they chatted. Moses walked into a distractionless environment to be one on one with His God, and God spoke! If we truly quiet ourselves before Him, we will hear His voice, it will be clear. This is what God does, this is who He is. He longs to speak to His people, His children, His family.
