In Search of God's Promises

What is the one thing we do when we feel out of control in a situation? We grasp onto something stable, something we can lean on, something that will hold us up. When the ground is shifting we want something solid to stand on. This is a journey through the Bible in search of God's promises for us today. Let's look together to see how many "boulders" He has in His quarry for us to stand on! "It is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Rom. 9:8

Promise 21 Gen. 8:21-22

Gen. 8: 21-22 - "The Lord smelled the soothing aroma; and the Lord said to Himself, 'I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing. As I've done. While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease'." God had the prime opportunity to give man good, pure hearts as He started from scratch with Noah's family, but He didn't. He realized that man was going to be evil and yet He was willing to let man continue to be born. He wasn't going to respond to man's evilness in the same way, nor take it out on the animals. He promised that the days will continue, man will continue to be as they were. It was His sovereign choice to allow man to continue to make that choice between good and evil. He had a plan, and I really believe at the time of His admission that man will continue to be evil from their beginnings, that He already new He was going to have to send His Son because of it. What a choice He had to make! He made it out of love. Noah's offering to Him showed Him that there was hope that man would choose to do right and make good decisions. That offering stirred the compassion of God once again for His children. Oh the love of the Father!
