In Search of God's Promises

What is the one thing we do when we feel out of control in a situation? We grasp onto something stable, something we can lean on, something that will hold us up. When the ground is shifting we want something solid to stand on. This is a journey through the Bible in search of God's promises for us today. Let's look together to see how many "boulders" He has in His quarry for us to stand on! "It is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Rom. 9:8

Promise 5 from Deuteronomy 1:35-36

Deut. 1:35-36 - "'Not one of these men, this evil generation, shall see the good land which I swore to give your fathers, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him and to his sons I will give the land on which he has set foot, because he has followed the Lord fully.'"

Wow, what a tribute straight from God. Of all the thousands of Israelites from the tribes of Israel, God have special recognition to Caleb (and Joshua too). Caleb followed the Lord fully. It is quite sobering to think of the thousands who didn't, even though they saw myriads of miracles and the Lord's cloud and fire go before them day and night. Even though they heard His voice and was present in their camp. Even though they witnessed the power of God in His fullest. They still didn't follow Him fully. It is even more sobering when I think of the times I've not followed Him fully. God is a loving God, He will reward those who seek after Him and who will believe what He says is true and who abide in His presence without wavering. He is a gracious God and calls His children to himself. He delights to reward His faithful children.
