In Search of God's Promises

What is the one thing we do when we feel out of control in a situation? We grasp onto something stable, something we can lean on, something that will hold us up. When the ground is shifting we want something solid to stand on. This is a journey through the Bible in search of God's promises for us today. Let's look together to see how many "boulders" He has in His quarry for us to stand on! "It is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Rom. 9:8

Promise 13 Gen. 4:4

"Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and for his offering." The reason God had favour for Abel over Cain is because Abel brought to Him his 1st fruits, where as Cain brought his leftovers. I think of how often I give to God my leftovers instead of the 1st fruits of my attention, devotion, time and service. God is a God who deserves our whole being, not just the leftovers. The promise here is that He will bless those who give Him their very best. Thank You, Lord!
