In Search of God's Promises

What is the one thing we do when we feel out of control in a situation? We grasp onto something stable, something we can lean on, something that will hold us up. When the ground is shifting we want something solid to stand on. This is a journey through the Bible in search of God's promises for us today. Let's look together to see how many "boulders" He has in His quarry for us to stand on! "It is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Rom. 9:8

Promise 73 Gen. 29:35

Gen. 29:35 - "And she conceived again and bore a son and said, 'This time I will praise the Lord.' therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing." Up until Judah's birth Leah had hoped that the child she bore will cause Jacob to love her. When Judah was born she just said, "This time, I will praise the Lord." She realized that God didn't give her children just so her husband would love her, but it was out of His love for her that He blessed her with children. So this time she thanked Him properly by praising Him. It is interesting too that it is from the line of Judah that Jesus comes. He comes from the line of praise to God, that is so cool. With every breath that we have, praise the Lord!
